Click on the above images to see the letter received by the International Web Police aka InterGOV from the Florida Statewide Prosecutors Office and on behalf of the Florida Attorney General.

The above scans of the official letter detail concerns about Police Impersonation, Prominently Displaying Police Badges, NOT Displaying A Disclaimer which states that Peter Hampton's agencies do not have any official capacity or are not acting under any official capacity according to Florida laws.

The document also details the State of Florida's concerns regarding young children or the naive being reasonably led to believe that Peter Hampton's sites were acting in an official capacity. Below is a text copy of the document for easier reading purposes.

STATE OF FLORIDA
DEPARTMENT OF LEGAL AFFAIRS

Office Of Statewide Prosecution

RE: "International Web Police"

The purpose of this letter is to request that you clarify on the internet your status as "police," thereby addressing the concerns of the Attorney General's Office of Statewide Prosecution and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

Your web site (http://www.web-police.org) and pages linked to it contain verbal and pictorial representations that may lead a reasonable user to conclude that the "(International Web Police" is an official police organization, as covered in Florida Statutes 843.08, 843.085 and 943.045(10) (copies attached)

For example, you display a "police" badge conspicuosly in the upper right hand corner of your home page: (See images on scans)

Additional examples are "Web Police" listed with other related sites as agencies and, in the context of these and other representations, providing "Emergency Assistance" and "Report[ing]" crimes, scams, and terrorist activities.

You have more "Police" badges displayed at (http://www.web-police.org/files/legal_authority.html) (See scans) Page also no longer exists but a copy with our comments can be seen HERE.

On that same page you conclude in all bold letters: "The International Web Police meet and exceed all of these requirements and is internationally recognized as the Official Police Agency on the Internet."

The examples could continue, but the purpose of this letter is not to detail each and every instance that may be reasonably interpreted as holding out the International Web Police as a police agency of the government. Instead, it is to inquire whether in fact, the International Web Police is actually a police agency as defined by Florida Statutes. Specifically, is the International Web Police organization actually a "federal, state, county, or municipal law enforcement agency," per section 843.085, Florida Statutes, or "other criminal justice agency," i.e. a "governmental agency or subunit thereof....," per sections 943.045(10)e, Florida Statutes? And, do your "officers" operating from, operating through, or otherwise representing your web site clarify when they are not acting in a "police officer" capacity so that they do not violate Section 843.08, Florida Statute?

Returning specifically to the appearance of you web site, we have reason to believe that the International Web Police is actually not a police organization according to Florida statutes. If this belief is correct, we are requesting that you, as a public service, clarify and qualify your representations throughout your web pages to assure that this is absolutely clear. These clarifications should include a conspicuous disclaimer at the top of your home web page that "The International Web Police is not an official governmental agency and therefore is not an official police organization." In other words, users, such as naive young children, who, for example, may read only portions of a web page, should not be misled on any of your web pages or on your IRC channel. Accordingly, your individual "officers," when interacting with anyone in the public, should explicitly and clearly indicate when they are not acting as true police officers under Florida law.

The WWW.WEB-POLICE.ORG page now displays the below disclaimer in small letters, and only after being forced to display it.

"The International Web Police is an International agency and not an agency of any city, state or country government"

Notice that the disclaimer is not as they were requested to include which was: "The International Web Police is not an official governmental agency and therefore is not an official police organization."

Notice that the wording again looks like it is saying that it is an International agency and gives the appearance that it is above or beyond any one government or country. This again looks like a deliberate attempt to deceive the reader into the belief that they are official and above anything else. My view is that they have not complied, have no intention of complying and still practice deceit at every given opportunity.

Their disclaimer tells the reader absolutely nothing of any value. It most certainly does not state that they are not an "official government agency" or an "official police organization" does it? It is my firm belief that unless those who have the necessary power pull the plugs on Peter Hampton, that he will continue to buck authority and mislead and endanger all those who are unfortunate to happen upon his bogus web sites.

Peter Hampton and his minions now claim that the report to the State of Florida was false and that Florida has revoked this letter as it was a mistake and furthermore given him their blessing to operate. Anybody believe that?

If this were so then there would not be a disclaimer, if you can even call it a disclaimer on his web pages, or would his fake legal authorities and powers page have been removed. It is my personal opinion that even P.T. Barnum was less of a conman than Peter Hampton who I believe seriously misleads and endangers the public with his false claims.

I'm sure many public spirited citizens will also share our concern and we ask that readers spread the word and contact their elected representatives in an effort to curtail these disgraceful activities and finally put an end to Mr. Hampton's dangerous and misleading antics.
